Harry & Archie's diary day 3 - Archie PappercrapperSaturday, February 24, 2007Thursday 22 Today we are going to the town and I'm going to get the gear to start litter training, I've no idea if they are too young for that tho! Archie eats virtually none stop and it's inevitable that it has to come out sometime anywhere! You couldn't loose him, he leaves a trail everywhere and I mean everywhere! It earned him the nickname Archie Pappercrapper yesterday! I just about wore a hole in the carpet going back and forwards cleaning up! He'd have done a horse proud! This morning Harry was at the door as soon as the lights went on, normally when he's at the door I put my hand in and stroke him, today he nibbled my hand then stepped on it! Amazingly big step in such a short time for him I think. So he's been sitting on my knee here for a while, wrapped in his blanket tho! As long as he's in his fleece blanket he's fine, he's getting brave cause he ventures out a bit, as long as his back legs stay on you he does anyway, he can stretch himself to quiet a length! Then he hides back under his fleece for a while, gives himself a quick wash then pops out again. Oh and he was on the webcam last night! So he's preening himself for his public after many ooh's and ahh's on msn! The handsome Harry! Archie hasn't been on the webcam yet, he wont stay still long enough! ![]() They don't like white chocolate treat drops. It's funny tho cause it's not a case of one of them not liking something, if it's not liked it's not liked by both. The photo above show Harry in his fleece and at last a photo of Archie!

But he needs a name!! All ideas please to: cavyrescue@yahoo.co.uk Posted by : Jason Hulott @ Thursday, February 22, 2007 Harry & Archie's diary Day 2Archie, I'm sure he's on something because he moves at 90mph all the time! And eat, my god he's never stopped eating! He's a bit on the thin side but at the rate he's going he'll be huge soon! His ears look huge but I think it's because the rest of him is a bit thin. I gave them peas, pasta and noodles this morning and he's never stopped eating noodles and pasta yet! He just seems so hungry all the time. Harry on the other hand seems glued to the fleece pouch! He's so laid back! He's just lying there with his head hanging over the side watching Archie fleeing up and down the cage, can't say as I blame him because I keep watching him fleeing about! They liked the strawberries but have thrown the cucumber down on the bottom in disgust! I had an email off Cynthia last night (Cynthia from Manchester Rodent Rescue who organised the rescue after we received a phone call from the RSPCA) to tell me a bit of the boy's background, they haven't had a good start in life have they? Posted by : Jason Hulott @ Thursday, February 22, 2007 Harry and Archie's diaryWednesday 21 Feb..2.29pm: They're here! They seem to re-arranging the cage at the moment!!!! They don't know where they want to be, they're up and down, they've taken most of the treats into the igloo now, they like dried noodles! The food bowl is just about empty, it's all in the igloo! ![]() Harry 4.08pm: Archie is in the igloo, finally wore himself out I think! Harry had a quiet time exploring the cage and has really taken a fancy to the hanging on the side bed. If he knows you're near he pops out! So I had to sneak up to get the pic, he's been fast asleep in it. I put some music on and it seems to have calmed them a bit, if Kay puts that rubbish she calls music on they'll be on the ceiling! I know I am at times when she puts it on! Posted by : Jason Hulott @ Thursday, February 22, 2007 Dealing with wild rats in your gardenQ. Hello, I have read your web page and wondered if you might be able to give me some advice about rats in my garden? I would like to 'get rid' of the rats in my garden but would prefer not to kill them and not to trap them. Are there any other products available that might deter them such as 'smelly powder' that would persuade them to leave? A. Hi there, many thanks for not putting poison down! Here is a link which may give you tips on not attracting them in the future: http://www.cavyrescue.co.uk/humane-rat-traps.shtml As you are not keen on trapping, you can buy sonic deterents which work well too. Try this: http://www.grovelands.com/acatalog/info_1_N213943.html If that doesn't work, please get back in touch! Regards Stel Posted by : Jason Hulott @ Thursday, February 22, 2007 Harry the GP has a spa dayTuesday, February 20, 2007Harry is a rather handsome guinea pig that we rehomed to a lovely lady in Sussex. He had a rotten start in life and came to us scrawny, mite ridden and very scared. He also had a respiratory problem that medication cleared, thank goodness. As you can see from his picture above, he loves 1980's music, especially that by the group "Flock of Seagulls" - hence the hair! That is why he also lives near the sea - for the Seaguls! Here is the latest on Harry: Just a really quick up date on the gorgeous Harry...... he had a bath, hair trim and nail clip today and he loved every minute bless him. I don't know what he gets up to but he gets soo grubby, must be from the hay ? He sat happily on his towel while I gave him a comb and trim, he just loves the attention and looks soo proud being groomed ! He's everso used to it now as he gets a good comb every day and doesn't mind his back area done now as he has learnt that I never pull his fur so he just relaxes and enjoys it.
